It may be a little hard to tell since it got pretty compacted when I surrounded it with ground beef, but in the middle of the hamburger patty pictured here is a grilled cheese sandwich. Yep, I made a grilled cheese sandwich, cut it into to a circle, packed ground beef around it and grilled it.
You see, people have created burgers with grilled cheese sandwiches as buns before, but as far as I’m aware, no one had ever used grilled cheese buns on a grilled cheese stuffed burger. Three grilled cheese sandwiches — two of which were made with Texas toast — a half pound ground beef patty and one delicious burger!
Based on how bad my dogs Finn and Holden wanted the burger I think it’s safe to say that it was a pretty stellar combination of meat, bread and cheese. Then again though, I’ve seen them eat some pretty disgusting stuff so maybe their opinion shouldn’t count.
I on the other hand definitely know what a great burger tastes like and let me tell you, this one was easily one of my favorites that I’ve ever made! Oh, and when you’re thinking about how huge and filling this burger looks keep in mind that I sliced it down the middle prior to photographing it, so what you see here is only half of it!
