The B.O.S.S.

The Big Oversized Sub SandwichThe B.O.S.S. (also known as the Big Oversized Sub Sandwich) is sold in the deli area of Pick ‘n Save grocery stores. Tipping the scales at a whopping two and a half pounds the sandwich is piled high with ham, turkey, salami, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. The price for this gigantic sandwich? Only $5.99.

The main problem with a sandwich of this caliber is finding a plate big enough to put it on. Luckily for me it ended up fitting perfectly on a giant serving plate that my wife and I received as a wedding present. Thanks Bryan and Megan!

The unfortunate part about the B.O.S.S. is that out of the two and a half pounds it weighs I’d estimate that about half of that is the bread alone. As you can imagine, that much bread can make for a fairly dry sandwich. That’s why when I purchased one recently I decided to add a few sunny side up eggs and some guacamole to it. Although my additions made the sandwich pretty messy they definitely helped with the dryness factor.

I’ve purchased a few of these in the past and usually ate them over the span of a couple days, but I’m happy to report that this time I finished my sandwich all in one sitting (aside from the couple times I got up to grab another beer).
