The B.O.S.S. (also known as the Big Oversized Sub Sandwich) is sold in the deli area of Pick ‘n Save grocery stores. Tipping the scales at a whopping two and a half pounds the sandwich is piled high with ham, turkey, salami, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. The price for this gigantic sandwich? Only $5.99.
The main problem with a sandwich of this caliber is finding a plate big enough to put it on. Luckily for me it ended up fitting perfectly on a giant serving plate that my wife and I received as a wedding present. Thanks Bryan and Megan!
The unfortunate part about the B.O.S.S. is that out of the two and a half pounds it weighs I’d estimate that about half of that is the bread alone. As you can imagine, that much bread can make for a fairly dry sandwich. That’s why when I purchased one recently I decided to add a few sunny side up eggs and some guacamole to it. Although my additions made the sandwich pretty messy they definitely helped with the dryness factor.
I’ve purchased a few of these in the past and usually ate them over the span of a couple days, but I’m happy to report that this time I finished my sandwich all in one sitting (aside from the couple times I got up to grab another beer).
