I’m on day six of this COVID-19 quarantine and I’ve already run out of things to deep fry so I’ve resorted to coating slices of bacon in Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and eating those.
Honestly though, this Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Encrusted Bacon doesn’t taste too bad!
Yep, after making things like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Breaded Cheese Bun Sliders, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Breaded Deep Fried Ice Cream, Deep Fried Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Breaded SPAM Rings, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Breaded Jalapeño Poppers and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Corn Dogs this is what it’s come down to….
Maybe while I’m stuck here at home I should just go all Chopped on you guys. “Ummmm yeah, I’ve got gummy bears, ahi tuna, a bottle of whiskey and an avocado here in my kitchen. Let’s see what I can make!”
I guess in reality though this whole quarantine thing isn’t too much different from how my life normally is. I mean, I work from home for the most part already, I never really have any set plans and I go to bed and wake up pretty much whenever I want.
I was supposed to go on a pretty sweet blogger trip last week that got cancelled because of all this coronavirus stuff though which was a bummer, but compared to all the people I know that have already lost their jobs these past couple weeks I really don’t have it too bad at all. I’m incredibly lucky in that aspect.
The thing is, I know that I’ll most likely be fine when all of this is over, but it’s still tough seeing so many people out of work and watching so many amazing bars, restaurants and other small businesses struggling right now. Obviously the closures need to happen if we’re ever going to get back to normal, but it’s still depressing to watch it all happen.
On the plus side — if there even can be a plus side to all of this — the outpouring of support for local businesses here in Milwaukee has been amazing to see so far. This past Friday there were multiple bars and restaurants that had lines of cars waiting for one or even two hours just to grab food to go.
I have no idea how sustainable that will be as time goes on with more and more people out of work, so I guess all that we can hope for is that this doesn’t last long. In the meantime though I guess I’ll just be hanging out here at home eating my Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Encrusted Bacon….
