My wife brought me home some cheesecake from her work the other day and I’d never had deep fried cheesecake before so I decided that it was a great time to finally make some!
What’s great about deep fried cheesecake is that unlike some other deep fried desserts like deep fried ice cream it holds its shape extremely well even after the frying process. Don’t get me wrong, I love deep fried ice cream, but the second it’s out of the fryer it immediately starts melting and by the time you finish eating it there’s at least a small pool of melted ice cream left on your plate.
Another thing I love about deep fried cheesecake is how rich and creamy the frying process makes the cheesecake. Usually when you order cheesecake at a restaurant it comes straight out of the refrigerator which can lead to a slightly harder or even icy texture. I on the other hand like my cheesecake to be served at room temperature because it gives it a softer, creamier texture. Deep frying the cheesecake takes it to a whole new level though.
Making this deep fried cheesecake couldn’t have been any easier. I just took the individual slices, dipped them in a mixture of egg and milk and then coated them in panko breadcrumbs. Then I just heated the oil in my deep fryer up to 375°F and fried them for a couple minutes. If you’d like to air fry these instead though just preheat your air fryer to 375°F, add a couple minutes to the cooking time and just air fry them until they’re golden brown.
Once my deep fried cheesecake out of the fryer I drizzled it with chocolate syrup, caramel sauce and sprinkled powdered sugar on top of it. You can obviously add whatever toppings you prefer, but when it comes to desserts, chocolate, caramel and powdered sugar are pretty much my go-to.
After trying deep fried cheesecake it’s honestly going to be tough to ever go back to regular cheesecake again just because of how rich and creamy it tastes coming out of the fryer. I’m not a big dessert guy to begin with and don’t ever eat traditional cake, but cheesecake is sort of my dessert that I’ve always gravitated towards if I ever actually order dessert in a restaurant. Now though, I might just have to order that next slice to go so I can fry it when I get home.
