Chocolate Covered Fritos
I picked up a bag of these chocolate covered Fritos from the Ultimate Confections booth at the Wisconsin State Fair, but due to the mass amounts of other food I was eating that same day I ended up just taking them home and kind of forgetting about them until earlier this week. I was pretty hungry when I arrived home from work Tuesday night though, so I tore into the bag to give them a try.
At first I was a little bummed that each Frito wasn't completely covered in chocolate until I started eating them and realized that doing so would completely overpower the salty taste of the Fritos with the sweet taste of the chocolate. As they are though the chocolate covered Fritos are the perfect mix of sweet and salty. I've tried chocolate covered potato chips before and wasn't a huge fan. With those the potato chips seemed to get sort of soggy as the chocolate started melting, but I'm happy to report that the chocolate covered Fritos had no problem at all maintaining their crunchiness!
I didn't know people made these. Now I want some.
They're awesome! I don't know if they sell them all the time or just at State Fair, but if they don't sell them normally they totally should.

I wouldn't have thought of this combination, but it's a great idea. And it has some historical validity since both chocolate and corn originated in Mexico or Central America.
