Bacon Weave Pizza
Ever since I made my mac and cheese pie that had a crust made completely out of bacon I've been telling myself that I need to incorporate the bacon weave into another dish. Well, I finally did it with this pizza! Yep, I didn't use a single ounce of dough for the crust in this pizza. What I did use however was an entire pound of delicious applewood-smoked bacon!
I started off by weaving my bacon together and cooking it in the oven at 400°. After ten minutes I took it out and topped it with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, green onions, Italian sausage and pepperoni before putting it back in the oven for another ten minutes to complete the cooking process.
Seriously, if you think bacon is good as a pizza topping then you need to try a pizza where the entire crust is made out of bacon. It's unbelievable how amazing it tastes! Imagine a world where you could go to your favorite pizza place, order a pie and instead of having to choose between only thick and thin crust you'd have bacon crust as an option as well. Oh what a glorious world that would be!

Time to drool, kids!! #HeartAttack
OMG that looks amazing!
wow! who likes bacon??? #bacon #pizza
It didn't fall apart or anything??
Nope! As long as you weave the bacon together pretty well it sort of just sticks together when you cook it.
um ....
How about a burrito with a bacon weave "tortilla"
I like it! I also want to make a breakfast-themed roll-up that would be a bacon weave rolled around eggs, sausages and peppers.
When I become president, I'm making you my personal chef.
Sounds good to me!
For my bacon loving friends...
So wrong!
So wrong!
Must try this!!!!
A low-carbers DREAM!
I have been known to collaborate on occasion with pizza.
this was the best pizza ever... i cooked the bacon for 40 minutes but made it with 2 pounds of bacon and it was fairly big... then i cooked all the topping on the stove top... then added them and just melted the cheese on broil... damn good pizza...
That's awesome! I'm glad you liked it!
Just wondering - what about the grease from the bacon??? Do you cook it on a rack and it drains off (broiler pan?) It sounds good, just trying to figure how it is not floating in grease. Thanks in advance for the answer to my puzzling question.
I didn't, but that would actually be a good idea. I just cooked it on a baking sheet with some tinfoil and after the first ten minutes of cooking I transferred it to a new sheet and then used paper towels to blot up all the grease. There wasn't a ton of grease when I put it back in with all the toppings on it since it was cooked pretty good already, but yeah, your idea would probably work even better.
Atkins friendly pizza! Score!
I must try this
Ho. Lee. Shee. It.
My wife would KILL me if I made this, but I will find a way to do it, come hell or high water.
Fantastic.
This is unbelievable. In a good way. Thank you.
Pizza genius!
Might I suggest a giant bacon weave quaesedilla. Just make the normal recipe, and place another bacon weave sheet on top to seal the deal. With twice the bacon, how can it go wrong?
I'm SO making one of those!
man this looks amazing, i'm just wondering how in the world do u weave bacon together and how many specific strips of bacon did you use?
I think I used about a pound of bacon for the pizza.
The weaving part is actually pretty easy. You just lay half your bacon one way and half the other way across it and then just sort of go piece by piece and weave it under and then over and then under and then over and so on and so on.
Woohoo! another version of low carb pizza. Best you don't tell your cardiologist!
This is genius, bacon weave pizza
I know what I'm doing this week
BACON WEAVING! So much tastier than Basket Weaving!
Looks delicious, plus - No carba ;o)
