The World’s Greatest Grilled Cheese Sandwich

The World's Greatest Grilled Cheese SandwichI don’t like to brag, but I’m pretty sure that I recently made the world’s greatest grilled cheese sandwich. I should probably pluralize the word sandwich I guess since I actually made two of them, but regardless, these things were amazing.

Instead of using boring regular white bread like most grilled cheese sandwiches consist of I decided to use Pepperidge Farm Five Cheese Texas Toast, which already has shredded Colby, mozzarella, Muenster, Provolone and Cheddar cheese on top of it. Since I had already upgraded the bread I didn’t feel quite right just throwing a couple Kraft Singles on my sandwich and calling it a day so I headed to the deli area of my local grocery store and purchased some more Cheddar, Provolone and mozzarella cheese and some Swiss and Marble Jack cheese as well.

Even with all that cheese my sandwiches still didn’t seem complete, not until I added some turkey bacon and avocado that is! What’s the deal with the turkey bacon you ask? Well, I’ve actually been trying to eat a little healthier lately. You know, because a grilled cheese sandwich that uses Texas toast and seven different types of cheeses is so healthy for you…

I tried a slight variation on this and just used tomatoes instead of the bacon and avacado. It was delicious with the Pepperidge Farm Five Cheese Texas toast though. I also added more cheese.

Looks and sounds delicious – have you tried halloumi? I like to cut it in quite thick slices rub some olive oil on it with tons of pepper and griddle it getting some nice charred crunchy marks on it, lovely in a sandwich. It also takes lots of flavourings/spices very well and you can squeeze lemon juice over it after you have cooked it – amazing :0)

I actually never even heard of halloumi until I read your comment, but I was just reading about it online and it sounds pretty good. I’ll have to try and find some place near me that sells it and give it a try!
