Chipotle Ranch Dressing

This homemade Chipotle Ranch dressing is good on everything from salads to tacos and can even be used as a dip! Plus, it’s ready in under 10 minutes!

Chipotle Ranch Dressing

I’m a sucker for a good Chipotle Ranch Dressing, and at this point I think I’ve tried pretty much every single brand on the market. Do you know what happens when you just buy a random bottle of Chipotle Ranch Dressing at the grocery store though? It’s always either too spicy or not spicy enough. What’s great about making your own dressing is that you can control the spice level and make the dressing taste exactly how you want it!

The kick in Chipotle Ranch Dressing comes primarily from the chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, which you can find canned in the international aisle of your local grocery store. In the recipe below I used two peppers which was perfect for me, but I’m also kind of a wuss when it comes to anything too spicy, so if you’re more adventurous than I am you might want to start off with three chipotle peppers right away. Or, if you’d like just the tiniest bit of kick one pepper might be perfect. Just keep in mind that after tasting it you can always add more peppers to make it spicier, but if you make the dressing too spicy right off the bat it’s going to be a lot more difficult to tame it down.

Chipotle Ranch Dressing Ingredients

Ingredients in Chipotle Ranch Dressing:

  • Chipotle peppers
  • Mayonnaise
  • Sour cream
  • Garlic powder
  • Dried dill
  • Onion Powder
  • Lime juice
  • Salt
  • Minced garlic
  • Cilantro

How to Make Chipotle Ranch Dressing:

If you’ve got 10 minutes you’ve got enough time to make this Chipotle Ranch Dressing! Just take all the ingredients, throw them in a blender or food processor and blend them on high until smooth! It’s as simple as that!

Can I Make Dressing Without a Blender?

This Chipotle Ranch Dressing is going to be much easier to make with a blender or food processor, but if you don’t have either of those you can also just combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and stir them by hand. Just make sure that you chop up the peppers and cilantro really well before you mix everything together.

How Can I Adjust the Spice Level?

a Majority of the spice in this Chipotle Ranch Dressing comes from the chipotle peppers. If you’d like your dressing a little less spicy try using one pepper rather than two. If you’d like it a little more spicy try using three peppers.

Can it Be Used as a Dip?

Absolutely! The dressing will thicken up a bit after being refrigerated, so if you’d prefer to use it as a dip just refrigerate it for at least an hour first. After that it’ll be ready for carrots, chips, celery or whatever else you want to dip in it!

How to Store Chipotle Ranch Dressing:

Once you’ve made your dressing you can store it in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. It does thicken when refrigerated though, so if it gets too thick for your liking just add water — one tablespoon at a time — and stir the dressing to thin it back out.

Dude, I am too lazy muck around with cleaning a blender or food processor. Plus I didn’t chipotle peppers and I love Outback’s ranch dressing. So I swapped out 1/4 tsp cayenne peppers for the chipotle and cilantro and mixed everything in the jar. It should keep as long as may and sour cream you made it from.
