Cheeseburger Pizza Pizza Burgers

I scored a couple cheeseburger pizzas on clearance at Walmart for 50 cents each so I figured the only logical thing to do was to make a giant pizza burger using the pizzas as a bun.

The pizzas were shaped like rectangles - and actually kinda reminded me of the pizzas they used to serve in the school cafeteria when I was a kid - so my first order of business was to make a giant rectangular burger patty.

For the patty I went with a 50/50 blend of ground Italian sausage and ground beef and then seasoned the patty with some pizza burger seasoning from a company called Pizza-Burger System, Inc. that's headquartered in Muskego, Wisconsin which is only about ten miles away from where I live. You'll also want your burger patty to be a bit larger than the pizzas are since it will shrink when you cook it.

Since I was already using pizzas as the bun I wasn't sure if I even needed to add any additional sauce or cheese, but I figured that when it comes to pizza you can never have too much sauce or too much cheese so at the end of the grilling process I topped the burger patty with pizza sauce and mozzarella.

These pizza burgers would also obviously be much less messy if I would have flipped the top pizza upside down, but then they also wouldn't have looked anywhere near as cool. If you ever make these though I'd definitely recommend not having the top pizza facing up like I did.

Trying to eat the entire thing as one giant burger was basically impossible - as you can see from the video on this page - but cutting it into four pieces worked out perfectly. Plus now you can share your pizza burger with three of your friends! Or, if you're like me you can just eat two of them for lunch and the remaining two for dinner.
