The grocery store near my house makes and sells their own flatbreads and all of them look pretty damn good except for one of them — their Bacon Cheeseburger Flatbread.
I’m not sure what it is about those flatbreads specifically, but all they consist of is ground beef and bacon — obviously — and then wide strips of American cheese. There’s literally nothing else at all on them….
They look like something I’d make when I get home at 2am after a long night of drinking when my refrigerator is almost empty but I want to eat something anyway. Even in that case I’m not sure if I’d enjoy them.
On the plus side, seeing these terrible looking Bacon Cheeseburger Flatbreads inspired me to make some of my own, and mine? They turned out amazing!
I started out with some naan flatbreads that I topped with BBQ sauce rather than pizza sauce, crumbles of ground beef and diced bacon. Then I added diced tomato and onion and shredded Cheddar cheese. After baking my flatbread in the oven for 10 minutes I finished them off with some chopped lettuce and a ketchup and mustard drizzle.
By using BBQ sauce as the base I guess these should technically be called BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger Flatbreads, but feel free to swap out pizza sauce, ketchup, or whatever you prefer as the base. A mayonnaise and ketchup mixture would work pretty great as well!

- Bake for 10 minutes at 350°F.

To make in advance:
If you’d like to make these flatbreads in advance just follow the first three steps and then wrap the flatbreads in aluminum foil or plastic wrap and store them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to make them. Then, once you’re ready just preheat your oven to 350°F and bake them for 10 minutes.
Recipe variations:
If you’re not a fan of BBQ sauce feel free to swap our the BBQ sauce for pizza sauce, more ketchup or whichever type of base sauce you prefer. Or, if you’re not a fan of burgers in general check out my recipes for Sirloin Steak and Gorgonzola Flatbreads or Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin Flatbreads.
