Pork Teriyaki in Edible Noodle Bowls

Pork Teriyaki in Edible Noodle BowlsFor the past four years I’ve been working with Smithfield to create recipes using their various pork products. In case you’ve missed any of my previous posts you can click here to check out all the different dishes I’ve come up with thus far.

Earlier this year I used one of their Sweet & Smoky Marinated Fresh Pork Roasts to make some pretty great Pulled Pork and Macaroni and Cheese Egg Rolls, and for my second recipe of 2018 they shipped me a couple of their Sweet Teriyaki Marinated Fresh Pork Tenderloins.

Since Smithfield’s Marinated Fresh Pork comes perfectly seasoned and marinated and all the prep work is done the second you open the package the only thing that’s really left for me to do with these recipes is to try and come up with different and creative ways to serve their amazing cuts of meat. I think I’ve definitely done that with these edible stir fry noodle bowls!

Although making a bowl entirely out of noodles might seem a little difficult it’s actually pretty simple. You just need to take two glass bowls — one slightly smaller than the other — pack noodles between them and bake them in the oven at 350° for 30 minutes. Plus, since Smithfield’s Marinated Fresh Pork requires zero prep work on your part you’ll have a half hour to kill anyway while you wait for it to cook on the grill.

Once I had my stir fry noodle bowls finished I packed them with mushrooms, peppers, shredded carrots, sugar snap peas and cubes of Smithfield Sweet Teriyaki Marinated Fresh Pork Tenderloin. If you want to save even more time you could also just buy a frozen bag of stir fry vegetables to mix with the pork but again, with almost no other real prep work that would be almost too easy….

In the end my Pork Teriyaki in Edible Noodle Bowls were so good looking I almost didn’t want to eat them. I kind of just wanted to keep them as some sort of centerpiece in the middle of my kitchen table like people do with bowls of fake apples and pears. Then I remembered how much I love Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork and immediately dug in!

If teriyaki isn’t your thing the pork tenderloin also comes in a variety of different flavors such as Roasted Garlic & Herb, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Slow Smoked Mesquite and Slow Roasted Golden Rotisserie. Or, if you’re looking for a completely different cut of meat they also offer pork roasts, loin filets, chops, ribs and sirloins. At this point I’ve pretty much tried them all and there hasn’t been a single flavor or cut that I’ve been disappointed with.

Do you love grilling as much as I do? Then you’re probably going to want to enter Smithfield’s Hero of the Grill Contest, where you can submit your nominee and give your grilling hero a chance to win $5,000. The first 10,000 nominees will also have the chance to have their name featured on Aric Almirola’s #10 Ford at the Richmond race this September. As for me, I think I’m gonna take it easy tonight and toss my second Sweet Teriyaki Marinated Fresh Pork Tenderloin on the grill for dinner….

Ingredients

  • 1 Smithfield Sweet Teriyaki Marinated Fresh Pork Tenderloin
  • 14 ounces stir fry noodles
  • 1 egg
  • Your choice of vegetables I went with mushrooms, peppers, shredded carrots and sugar snap peas
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce

Instructions

  • Cook Smithfield Sweet Teriyaki Marinated Fresh Pork Tenderloin according to the directions on the package.
  • Cook stir fry noodles according to the directions on the package, rinse with cold water and mix with 1 egg.
  • Spray the inside of the larger bowl and the outside of the smaller bowl with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Place about 1/4” of stir fry noodles in the bottom of the larger bowl and place the smaller bowl into the center of the larger bowl.
  • Continue wrapping stir fry noodles around the smaller bowl — between the two bowls — until they reach the top of the smaller bowl.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the smaller bowl by twisting it and then flip the larger bowl upside down and remove your finished noodle bowl. If the noodles are still sticking to the glass bowls you may need to trace around the bowls with a knife to help loosen them.
  • Dice your vegetables and toss them in a skillet with 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce.
  • Cut Smithfield Sweet Teriyaki Marinated Fresh Pork Tenderloin into 1/2″ cubes, combine with your vegetables and transfer into stir fry noodle bowls.
