Chili in Edible Cornbread Bowls Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • ¾ cup flour
  • cup sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • Your choice of toppings I went with sour cream, shredded Cheddar cheese and green onion.

Method
 

  1. In a bowl combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in egg, milk and vegetable oil.
  2. Pour batter into the Bake-a-Bowl Pan.
  3. Bake at 375° for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cornbread bowls comes out smooth.
  4. Brown the ground beef and drain the fat.
  5. Add tomato sauce, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper and simmer for an hour.
  6. Fill cornbread bowls and top with your choice of toppings.
