In case you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when you deep fry a couple KitKat candy bars and then use them as buns for a grilled cheese sandwich, it looks exactly like this.
Deep fried candy bars are obviously nothing new, but as far as I know no one — until now — has actually used two of them along with a couple slices of cheese to create a sandwich.
Now, I’m sure there are a couple reasons behind why no one has done this before, the first being that it just don’t sound very appealing. Honestly, looking back at it right now it doesn’t even look that appetizing, but let me tell you, it was pretty damn good!
I started off, obviously, with two KitKat candy bars, both of which I coated in flour, egg and then panko bread crumbs. I then dropped them into my deep fryer for about 45 seconds before throwing a couple slices of cheese between them and frying them in a pan like you would with a regular grilled cheese sandwich.
As I cut my Deep Fried KitKat Grilled Cheese Sandwich in half and picked it up to take a bite I fully expected it to just sort of fall apart in my hand, but it stayed amazingly intact as I ate it. Plus, based on how well it turned out I actually came up with another idea as I was eating it, a burger that has two deep fried chocolate chip cookie sandwiches for the bun!
