The Eggs Benedict Burger

The Eggs Benedict BurgerI love Eggs Benedict. The one problem I have with it though is that I’m not the biggest fan of Canadian bacon. More often than not it’s just a little too chewy for me.

On the other hand, I also really enjoy burgers and I’m always looking for different toppings I can add to them to mix things up a bit. That should be pretty clear by now if you’ve been reading this blog for a while, but just in case you’re new to DudeFoods you might wanna check out the Cinnaburger, the lasagna burger or the bacon weave brat burger, which are a few of the more creative burgers I’ve come up with. A few days ago I created a new one. I call it the Eggs Benedict burger.

Now, this burger isn’t groundbreaking by any means. In fact, all I really did was swap out the Canadian bacon for a half pound burger patty. It is however the perfect alternative for the traditional Eggs Benedict if like me you don’t like Canadian bacon. Aside from that though the English muffin, poached egg and Hollandaise sauce are all still there.

When it came time to enjoy the fruits of my labor I broke the poached egg open with a fork, let some of the yolk run down the side of my burger, picked it up and took a bite. It was amazing.

I usually top my burgers with fried eggs, and as soon as I bite into them I have yolk completely covering my hands. With the poached egg though my burger still had that same delicious taste, but since there wasn’t quite so much yolk it was a lot less messy. It was pretty much the best of both worlds….

Just writing this blog post and thinking back on how good the Eggs Benedict burger was is making my mouth water. If I had some eggs left in my refrigerator and if it didn’t require me driving to the grocery store to buy more I’d probably be making another one this very second. Screw it, I’m hungry. I’m headed to the store!

I’ve had a sunny-side-up egg on a burger before, but I really need to try this.

I can’t believe you left yolk on the dish. I would’ve sopped that last bit up with the bun.

I love the eggo-burger, with a dent/hole in the center of the patty holding a fried egg… delicious =)
