Rice Krispies Treats S’mores

Rice Krispies Treats S'moresI dig s’mores, but the problem with eating them is that the graham crackers always seem to crumble and fall apart leaving your fingers covered in melted chocolate and marshmallows.

Recently I was making some Rice Krispies Treats when I opened my kitchen cabinet to discover that I still had some Hershey’s chocolate and some marshmallows left from back when I made my S’mores Chicken Wings so I figured I’d try making some s’mores where I ditched the graham crackers completely in lieu of Rice Krispies Treats. Great idea right?

Well, being the idiot that I am the one thing I didn’t consider was that since Rice Krispies Treats are also made with marshmallows that when I heated up my Rice Krispies Treats S’mores to melt the chocolate and marshmallows that the Rice Krispies Treats would melt and fall apart as well.

So how do you solve this? Simple, you freeze the Rice Krispies Treats so that when you heat up your Rice Krispies Treats S’mores the chocolate and marshmallows in the middle will melt, but the actual Rice Krispies Treats themselves will simple return to room temperature, thus staying together.

Seriously, these Rice Krispies Treats S’mores were delicious! My only regret  aside from not thinking of this idea earlier  was that I didn’t have enough chocolate and marshmallows on hand to make more than a few of them!

Cool! Coincidentally, I happen to have a 2-lb, 12″ x 15″ pre-made Rice Krispy treat in my kitchen that I stumbled upon in a drunken stupor at a late-night grocery. I’m wondering if I should find another one and make a 4-lb+ Krispy s’more. Was it a mess to eat? I’m going to do it even if it is, but I just want to be prepared.

It was actually less messy than regular s’mores, so I say go for it! They actually sell gigantic Hershey bars too that you could use! I actually have one of those and always wanted to use it to make gigantic s’mores, but I could never find any giant graham crackers and I’ve always been too lazy to try and make my own.
